RANSOMES SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB MEETING 23 25 September 2007 In attendance: 21 members with apologies from Ray C and Rob A, whose lift was conspicuous by their lack of mellifluous foreign tongues, their physical absence and the amount of space that was, therefore, left on the table! Welcome goes to Andrew Hunt, another former war gamer and a friend of Postman Pete and his white and black dog – or Richard, as his wife knows him. Andrew was fearless and presented us with a couple of models on the first night, fine fellow, and as can be seen below they were original, interesting and splendidly made. THE TABLE

East Anglian Model Show The update for the EAMS was as follows: This was the last meeting prior to the EAMS; therefore, a full briefing was given by Kelvin. Currently confirmed we have 14 clubs and 6 vendors for the EAMS. Tables and chairs have been arranged; however, they are in disparate locations therefore Bob J undertook to see if suitable transport could be arranged. The back-up plan would be one of Ken Maystre’s (from the Bury Club) removals lorries if Bob was unable to secure his firm’s wagon. The cost of the tables is to be about £150 and to defray these cost vendors will be charged £15 per 6’. Volunteers will be needed for a Friday afternoon pick-up and a Monday Morning delivery at Mildenhall and at Ransomes. Kev and Ian undertook to post the signage on the Saturday evening and remove it following the show and Rob F undertook to organise internal signage and the door roster. The hall would be available for delivery on the evening of Saturday 13 Oct. All members were requested to be there on the day at 08:30 to help set up the hall. Similarly, it was hoped that everyone could stay after the show to clear up, as stipulated in the agreement, as the Clubs will be charged overtime should we overrun after 17:30; Rob F undertook to arrange bin-bags for each stand to ease the rubbish problem. Sick and wounded were requested to make themselves known so that they could ‘joed’ for light duties. Competition will be limited to a Best in Show, Best Club Stand and SBX Model Shop is sponsoring a best OOB model; judges for the former classes will be drawn from the visiting attendees, it is believed. What was not discussed formally and is included here, was the proposal that we all choose a suitable venue in Ipswich to eat as a Club following the EAMS, following previous year’s enjoyable experiences in Stowmarket. Visits and Shows Brampton IPMS. The Brampton IPMS Show will be held at Burges Hall, St Ives on Sunday, 30 Sep 07. Bob, Steve, Rob F, Dom, Stu and Kev said that they would attend. EAMS. EAMS, Maidenhall Sports Centre, Ipswich, Sunday, 14 Oct 07. The list of jobs to do is at Annex A. IPMS Scale Model World 07. Can’t WAIT! Only 6 weeks to go to IPMS Scale Model World, Telford International Centre, Telford, 9-11 Nov 07. The stand building weekend was a bust; nevertheless, it has been re-scheduled at Kev’s for Sat, 29 Sep 07 – after lunch. Rugby, beer’n’bites will be provided. The Secretary had been approached by the SMW Competition Secretary to judge at the Show and further volunteers had been sought. Dom and Kelvin asked to be put forward for this superb opportunity to get literally ‘hands on’ with some of the World’s greatest pieces of ‘Plastic Passion’. Further judging volunteers can contact the SMW Comp Sec through Kev – but, please be quick. Members creating models for the stand with relevance to the theme of Witches, Warlocks and Wizards are requested to forward them to the Secretary for inclusion on ‘The List’! AOB Club Talk by Les French. The Secretary had been in touch with Les French, the WWII Thunderbolt pilot, who had volunteered to chat to the Club. He was unable to speak at the October meeting and the November and December meetings were already booked; therefore, it was agreed to try to arrange another evening for him to speak and it was decided that we could try tie the night in to one of the Bury meetings albeit at our venue. NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 23 Oct 07 – our second anniversary! N.B. It is a 5 week month next month.
