East Anglian Model Competition

A Personal view

Well how did our first model competition go? For one, I felt that it was a fantastic success! Until a few days before the event, I didn’t know if it was just going to be members of the Ipswich Club displaying. But on the night, the people came in their hordes. We had representation from all over the area, Clacton, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds, Norwich, I could go on, but you get the idea.

A lot of old and new friends / contacts were made, and from the people that I spoke to, all seemed to think that it went very well. I learnt a few things (considering that it was my first as Competition Secretary) that I will consider changing / modifying for the next one, yes I’m sure that there will be another one.

As I was on the door most of the night or “number crunching” the votes for the models, I did not get to see the models properly but what I did see, were built to a very high standard. My thanks must go to Robert Foster for all of his help! And of course I must say thanks to all those people who made the effort to judge (it’s not easy is it!).

Hopefully others will compile a report from what their thoughts were of the night. So congratulations to those who got awards and I will leave you with their names etc for each class, and I apologise for any miss spelt names etc as my writing got worst as the night when on!
